Los Amigos Restaurant Taqueria & Torteria

First things first... I'm a local and I wish something would last in this spot... we've been going to many different establishments in this same spot since it was Tony's Pizza... It's a terrible location that doesn't get enough traffic, so if you like Los Amigos please spread the word its a great little restaurant. The Review, Margaritas... I drink mine regular my wife likes hers sugar on the rim instead... not going to lie... I was a little worried when they said no to sugar. They use Tajin on the rim... my wife liked it better than using salt but still prefers sugar and I thought it was great. One of the best Margaritas I've had and it was a very generous pour! Awesome!!! Quesadilla... we shared a chicken quesadilla, we both agreed it was excellent... full of flavor and the cheese was absolutely fantastic! Perfect sized portion for 2 people to share. Awesome!!! My wife's dinner Mixed Fajita... chicken, shrimp, and we think skirt steak (wasn't sure of the cut used)... She said it was excellent. I tasted it and I agree. Some slightly chewy parts of steak but I don't blame them... it's steak, sometimes it happens. we are pretty sure they used the same cheese from the quesadilla and its fantastic... not some shredded nonsense... melted and poured with some actual thought put into the presentation... very flavorful! One minor gripe... and its not just Los Amigos but a lot of places... peel the shrimp and remove the tail unless its shrimp cocktail... I don't want to waste time while everything is hot peeling shrimp. Great!!! My dinner Castilla De Res... Short ribs with rice and beans, short ribs were great and extremely flavorful and the rice was amazing not just a pile of yellow rice but an actual well thought out side dish that was great. pieces of finely chopped vegetables that worked very well mixed in, and the beans were standard black beans. Awesome!!! Single taco ( just to try one ) Al Pastor... I've never had Al pastor but I definitely will again... served street style... amazing flavor!!!... Me and my wife agreed it was one of the best tacos we ever had! They could do well with special nights and happy hour specials advertised Please go here and then tell people!!! I absolutely loved this place and we will be going back... everything was fantastic, fresh and very flavorful and the owners are super nice! BEST OF LUCK TO LOS AMIGOS!!!

I have never been to this place before and I gave a try and wanted to see if they had good breakfast and YES they have amazing breakfast and lunch and dinner they have food for all times of the day and the food came out quick and the place was clean and had good service I 100% recommend this place

Amazing food! As a local, I had to try this place out since I absolutely LOVE Mexican cuisine! I have only tried out two tacos thus far: One chicken taco and one taco de saudero/asado; both street style (meat, onion, cilantro) on corn tortillas. The tacos also came with a lime, some slices of cucumber and two salsas that were both excellent! Just note that only the tacos and cucumber slices can be seen in my picture since I'm a horrible photographer, haha. Overall, the tacos were so good that they had both magically vanished within 60 seconds after I had opened the to-go container, haha! If I had to give one piece of advice, I would recommend for the chef to lightly toast the outside tortilla on the grille in the oil that was left after cooking the meat. Doing this would add a very slight crisp to the tacos' outside tortillas. I would currently (based on what I have tried thus far) give this meal a 9/10 rating! If the outer tortillas were slightly toasted, that 9 would turn into a 10! I will most definitely be back to have the food here again regardless of whether or not my suggestion is done in the future. Best tacos I've had in a long time and loaded with flavor and the protein you choose, especially in LI where most tacos are either Taco Bell or one step above it. I knew I was in for a treat as soon as I sat down and was served their amazing salsas with their complimentary chips, the red one especially was so smokey and flavorful, while being the right amount of heat. They serve delicious cocktails like their margaritas as well. Their menu features other Latin American/Mexican items like tortas, fajitas, and other typical plates. Sadly lies on a relatively quiet street between some residential roads, don't sleep on this spot! If you want tacos or other Mexican fare, you gotta come here! I especially recommend the Carne Asada, Chorizo, and Al Pastor, they are soooo good!

The food is amazing, I’d say it’s even better than the Mexican food in the city. It’s a nice small spot with extremely friendly waiters. They answered my questions about the food when asking if I could make any changes and had no issues with it. I recommend everyone who’s driving by or lives around here to try them. The chilaquiles with green sauce were fantastic.

This place provides the most Authentic Mexican food. I have tried many places but this place is THE BEST! Not just quality but also quantity. Drinks are amazing, service is fantastic. My kids enjoyed their food so much!

I’ve gone to the restaurant twice now and the food, drinks, and service was incredible. The Al Pastor tacos were my favorite and Fernanda makes an incredible margarita! Will be going back again soon!

We went on a Saturday evening, they had a live DJ playing Latino and Pop music which was fun. Food was delicious and service was really nice. The Margaritas weren’t made with a cheap sour mix, which I appreciated. Great experience overall! Will definitely return.
